We are looking for a skilled Finance Assistant to maintain our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. You will work closely with our Head of Finance to create financial reports and management accounts up to Balance Sheet and Trial Balance and ensure legal requirements compliance. Our ideal candidate will have hands-on experience of Xero (or similar online accounting package) and will have worked in multi-currency. Ultimately, the Finance Assistant’s responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of our company.
Essential Functions (Key Accountabilities)
- Manage all sales and purchase ledger transactions in Xero
- Manage all aspects of credit control and accounts receivables including robust telephone follow up with customers to ensure prompt settlement of invoices
- Set up and on-board new customers and new suppliers
- Process supplier invoices and purchase orders
- Process through DEAR and Xero all channel product returns, stock rotations and associated credit notes
- Deal promptly with all accounts queries and the filing of all accounts paperwork
- Manage third-party suppliers (facilities, office suppliers, services etc)
Monthly Tasks
- Preparation of monthly Intrastat and ECC sales reporting. Online filing
- Process monthly VAT reports and ensure timely online filing
- Reconciliation of all bank accounts and credit card statements (three currencies)
- Timely processing of all staff cash and card expenses
Requirements
- Proven bookkeeping experience (3-5 years in similar role), using similar online accounts package
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, proven administrative skills
- AAT qualifications, Level 3 or above

We operate out of our offices in a beautiful converted barn just outside of Guildford with free off-road parking but operate a hybrid schedule with three days in the office (including every Monday) and the other two days working from home. We provide generous 28x days holiday per year as well as bank holidays.
