Job description
We are not a huge corporation. We are a small, family run, 5* business with 11 bedrooms. We are looking for someone with general all round experience.
PART TIME = 18 HOURS on duty from 4pm - 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on call overnight during those times. Flexibility for additional time/holiday cover if required.
LIVE IN = living on the premises in the one bedroom flat provided. This is provided so that you can be on call and properly carry out your duties.
GENERAL ASSISTANT = someone who can single handedly ensure the smooth running of the hotel while they are on duty by carrying out a combination of admin and domestic tasks including but not restricted to:
Checking guests in
Preparing for breakfasts;
Preparing for afternoon teas when required;
Entering bookings into our system;
Dealing with emails;
Taking telephone calls and dealing with queries;
Maintaining supplies
And many other tasks
We are a very small team and you would have to be ‘hands on’ with all aspects of guest service.
Must be prepared to carry out ‘hands on’ all aspects of housekeeping
Must be able to communicate confidently with staff and with guests on the telephone and in person.
Must be computer literate and Social Media literate, with good command of English, able to spell or use ‘spell check’, able to hand write clearly and able to compose a sentence.
Must be able to follow laid down procedures.
Must be able to work on your own.
Must be able to negotiate five flights of stairs
Overall objectives:
· To ensure that our guests' stay is an enjoyable experience and nothing falls short of their expectations.
· To work with management and the team in maintaining cleaning rotas to ensure a high degree of cleanliness and room servicing, achieved efficiently in a timely fashion, to comply with the criteria for our 5 star accreditation.
· To maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of public areas, behind the scenes areas and kitchen to the standard required for our Brighton & Hove City Council ‘5 star scores on the doors’ accreditation.
· To maintain stock lists to ensure adequate food, linen and cleaning supplies are in place.
· To check guests in following the procedures set down.
· To monitor and deal with emails, telephone bookings, Social Media and computer input.
· The ideal applicant will be a good team player but be able to work happily alone and have a responsible and flexible attitude, common sense, good English and Maths GCSE grades, a good sense of humour and a 'can do' approach.
Salary starts at £11.2k plus the flat and increases dependant on skills and experience.
