The CRUK Beatson Institute is a cancer research institute situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. Role outline
We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Officer to work as part of a small team to process, pay and reconcile all transactions and paperwork for our purchase ledger operation and banking.
The main duties of the role include:
· ensuring that all purchase ledger transactions related to suppliers are processed, maintained and kept up to date throughout the year within acceptable and known timescales
· ensuring all banking transactions are posted accurately and that bank reconciliations are performed over the first couple of days of the month in time for month end closures
· communicating clearly and effectively over purchase ledger responsibilities on an ongoing basis with team members and other stakeholders
You will also have responsibility for actioning Purchase Orders, processing expenses and reporting on financial transactions to groups within the Institute. A full job description can be found on our website.
You should have significant experience in a busy finance office with specific responsibility for purchase ledger, as well as excellent attention to detail, good time management, and a friendly and open communication style. You must be numerate and literate to at least National 5 standard.
