Salary: £23,945 progressing to £26,605

Hours: Monday to Thursday 09.00 to 17.00hrs Friday 09.00 to 16.30hrs

We have an excellent opportunity within our Finance Department for a Finance Assistant. If you have strong organisational skills along with great interpersonal skills, then this could be the role for you.

As a Finance Assistant in our Central Services in Fareham, your role will involve providing assistance within the finance department in areas of daily administration and other clerical duties.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the purchase ledger, recording invoices onto the OPERA register as they are received and distributing them to services as appropriate for authorisation, dealing with queries within the purchase ledger.
  • Monitor the finance email inbox and deal with any arising issues.
  • Prepare the weekly payment runs, including the miscellaneous BACS run and cheques as required, recording and posting all payments in the appropriate places.
  • Reconciling all PL statements.
  • Maintain the various utility contracts spreadsheets, including gas, electric and phones. Collate, code and post to the nominal ledger.
  • Prepare and maintain accruals and prepayments, and at month end ensure correctly coded and posted to the nominal ledger.
  • Liaise with external agencies on behalf of staff and clients as directed by the Finance team leader.
  • Maintain finance records, as required and ensure all manual, computerised records and information are stored, as appropriate
  • Attend staff meetings and support and appraisal sessions as required.
  • Attend appropriate training to meet needs identified by line manager.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties, as requested by a senior manager.

Attributes & Values

  • Must have 2 years experience plus of Purchase Ledger procedures.
  • Able to cope with large volumes of invoices and process in a timely manner.
  • The role is very busy and very challenging.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft package - including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Pegasus Opera accounts package.
  • Good Team player but able to work on own initiative.
