The Chemotherapy Day Unit has a vacancy for a dynamic and motivated staff nurse.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and show enthusiasm for caring for chemotherapy patients in a day unit setting. You will be able to work independently yet be an important part of a busy nurse led team. We provide a high standard of nursing care, treating a diverse group of patients. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to undertake further study within 6 months of a successful appointment and to be adopted by Macmillan.

  • To work as a member of the nursing team led by senior nurses to provide high quality nursing care to patients within the Haematology Day Unit.
  • To behave in a manner as laid down in the NMC code of professional conduct.

  • To plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate nursing care within the day unit
  • To be responsible for high standards of nursing care
  • To assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery
  • To maintain good nursing documentation in accordance with trust policy
  • To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the Day Unit following consultation/treatment
  • To manage and advise patients and other members of staff on peripheral and central lines
  • To be able to interpret blood results and act accordingly
  • To acquire, use, develop and teach additional skills eg venesection, cannulation and venepuncture
  • Leadership
  • To plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload
  • To take an active part in appraisal and the setting and achieving of personal objectives
  • Attend departmental and Trust meetings as appropriate
  • To demonstrate an awareness of budgetary issue
