The Chemotherapy Day Unit has a vacancy for a dynamic and motivated staff nurse.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and show enthusiasm for caring for chemotherapy patients in a day unit setting. You will be able to work independently yet be an important part of a busy nurse led team. We provide a high standard of nursing care, treating a diverse group of patients. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to undertake further study within 6 months of a successful appointment and to be adopted by Macmillan.

To work as a member of the nursing team led by senior nurses to provide high quality nursing care to patients within the Haematology Day Unit.
To behave in a manner as laid down in the NMC code of professional conduct.

To plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate nursing care within the day unit
To be responsible for high standards of nursing care
To assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery
To maintain good nursing documentation in accordance with trust policy
To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the Day Unit following consultation/treatment
To manage and advise patients and other members of staff on peripheral and central lines
To be able to interpret blood results and act accordingly
To acquire, use, develop and teach additional skills eg venesection, cannulation and venepuncture
Leadership
To plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload
To take an active part in appraisal and the setting and achieving of personal objectives
Attend departmental and Trust meetings as appropriate
To demonstrate an awareness of budgetary issue
