Finance Assistant (12-month contract)

Purpose of role:

We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant (FA) under a 12-month contract for maternity cover. The FA will either be QBE (at least 2 years’ experience in a hands-on varied finance environment), or AAT part or fully qualified.

This role is for a hands-on, experienced, and personable FA to work alongside our Finance Manager and Finance Assistant. This will be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys gathering and analysing financial information whilst supporting the team.

The FA’s contractual place of work will be remote, however will be required to travel to the Company’s head office on occasions as it will be expected to attend this location in the fulfilment of the duties assigned to their role.

Main responsibilities:

  • Varied Finance Assistant role within a small face paced company that encompasses full Purchase and Sales ledger management.
  • Sales invoicing end to end process and assist with automation project.
  • Debt Collection
  • Cash book maintenance and Bank Reconciliations.
  • Nominal and VAT coding of invoices, full reconciliations to supplier statements, supplier payments etc.
  • Employee expenses process management via Dext, Red Spotted Hanky, hotel bookings.
  • Assist with VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales, Bank Returns.
  • Data analysis
  • Adhoc reporting
  • Answering Switch Board and assist with any Finance related telephone calls/queries.

General responsibilities

Person Specification (Qualifications, experience, skills, personal attributes required to do this role):

We are seeking a motivated and energetic individual who thrives on working under pressure and completing projects to a tight deadline. It will require constant and effective communications with internal/external cross-functional teams. The individual will have the following skills:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Finance Assistant role or similar.
  • Organised and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Team working skills and an open and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (including knowledge of pivots).
  • Experience of Xero accounting software, Dext and Approvalmax applications beneficial.
  • Suit part/fully qualified AAT Studier.
  • Ability to priortise workload and meet deadlines.

This role profile is not exhaustive; it will be subject to periodic review and may reasonably be amended to meet the changing needs of the business. The post holder will be expected to participate in this process and they and the company would aim to reach agreement to the changes commensurate with the position held.
