Introduction

The Finance, Portfolio and Performance team (FPP) is critical to supporting a thriving Parliamentary democracy. We play a leading role in delivering the House of Commons’ Strategy and corporate priorities through financial planning, analysing performance, and supporting the delivery of projects and programmes across Parliament. Equally important are the financial services, systems, accounting, reporting and Members’ services that we provide to keep the House of Commons Service working effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis.

The Role

We are offering 6 candidates an exciting opportunity to be part of a team at the forefront of leading change across the organisation. It will be of particular interest to individuals looking to broaden their skills and experience as part of their career development.

This post has no line management responsibilities but may be expected to co-ordinate tasks and outcomes in a matrix-style environment.

The Finance Function has a range of roles in Financial Planning and Analysis, Management Reporting, Management Accounting and Business Intelligence, Systems Accounting and Financial Operations where you will begin your career. You will be given the opportunity to be rotate around various roles within the function to ensure that you have blended experience, which should complement your study towards a Level 7 Professional Apprenticeships Qualification. Skills and Experience

The following qualifications are essential for this role:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*–C/4–9 in English
  • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*–C/4–9 in Mathematics
  • Level 4 Accounting Qualification (AAT, ACCA, or CIMA).

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate on your application the following:

  • Ability to identify key stakeholders, build trusted relationships with diverse groups of people and work with them effectively to ensure delivery of key outcomes.
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting data, ensuring that satisfactory explanations are provided for variances and errors are investigated and corrected appropriately.
  • Be proactive and take ownership for tasks and issues ensuring tasks are completed on time, to a high standard, and can prioritise effectively to meet objectives. Able to communicate with your team to ensure deadlines are met and everyone is kept informed of successes and/or risks.
