Description of the Business Line or Department
The IT infrastructures department, RESG/GTS (Global Technology Services), is at the centre of the transformation of Société Générale’s operating model. Thanks to RESG/GTS, the Group boasts one of the biggest shared service centres for IT infrastructures in the financial sector.
The position will be part of the GTS Finance team and Project Management which sits within the GTS IT Risk & Oversight Team. GTS Finance oversees the review of costs, forecast preparation, providing guidance to GTS management, liaising with the DFIN teams in Paris and London, and GBSU London. There will also be extensive liaison and Project management focus with our PMO team on CTB projects.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
The trainee will cover 3 activities for the GTS department:
- Month end analysis: Review of month on month cost movement
- Local Management reporting: Preparation of GTS EXCO packs, preparation of quarterly forecasts, ad-hoc queries
- Paris Management reporting: assist in preparation of annual budget, ad-hoc queries
Summary of responsibilities
Month End Analysis:
- Ensure accurate cost accounting, including accruals and corrections, by monitoring the monthly CRM process
- Liaise with DFIN London and Bangalore to obtain latest month end costs
- Review month on month movement, obtaining explanations for significant variances for GTS EXCO packs
- Prepare month end journals, liaising with local DFIN for posting to general ledger
Local Management Reporting:
- Liaise with COO team members to collaborate the completion of the various slides in the GTS EXCO packs
- Prepare and present GTS EXCO packs to senior management accountant for review/updates/amendments before presenting to GTS EXCO
- Present internal packs to GTS EXCO providing an in-depth analysis of performance against forecast
- Calculate and prepare the quarterly forecast exercise, liaising with internal managers on future anticipated spend
- Present quarterly forecast presentation to senior management accountant for review/updates/amendments before presenting to CTO & COO
- Present quarterly forecast presentation to CTO & COO
- Review of external vendor spend, informing local management of any variance to forecast and budget
- Assist local management with any ad-hoc finance queries
Paris Management Reporting:
- Prepare the present to senior management accountant the DFIN Paris flash report
- Calculate and prepare the annual budget exercise, liaising with internal managers on future anticipated spend
- Present annual budget presentation to senior management accountant for review/updates/amendments before presenting to CTO & COO
- Present annual budget presentation to CTO & COO
TimeTracking administration:
- Provide Pyramid support to users when required.
- Prepare monthly TimeTracking statistics for the department.
- Prepare monthly TimeTraking updates for the ExCo.
Project management:
- Administer the Project Management Office SharePoint.
- Be a presenter for the bi-weekly Project Review Committee and monthly Project updates meetings.
