Job description

The role

· To work as part of a small team

· Prepare monthly management accounts

· Monthly and quarterly financial review services

· Quarterly VAT returns

· Retail Mediation Activities Return (RMAR)

· To assist auditors on client audits

· To assist the team with various month and quarter end close processes

· To assist the finance manager in the preparation of management accounts

· Opportunity to support on a variety of process improvements projects and gain exposure to different types of clients within insurance industry

Key responsibilities

Coverholder Reviews and Broker Scorecard

· Perform coverholder reviews for our syndicate clients

· Compilation of the final broker scorecards

· Provide research and relevant analysis on the performance of the brokers and coverholder

Management Accounts (Day-in Day-Out)

  • Accounts Payable: record and settle supplier invoices
  • Accounts Receivable: calculate & reconcile Income

· Full ownership of the management accounts function for several clients

  • Assist auditors in the yearly client audits
  • Assist the finance manager in preparation of management accounts

Key skills and experience required

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of a relevant Degree or Equivalent;
  • Early stage of Accountancy professional qualification desired – ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc

Essential Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel including use of Pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUPS and HLOOKUPS
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to present and explain complex technical information in simple terms
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Prior experience/knowledge working with accounting systems

Desirable Skills

  • Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliations and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Prior experience/knowledge of SAP and/or Quickbooks
  • Confident in taking responsibilities and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn new systems and refine processes
  • An understanding of the insurance industry
  • Previous experience in mentoring junior/ less experience staff

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
