Finance Analyst
Hybrid – based at our Support Centre in Coleshill, Birmingham 1-2 days a week.
Become a Finance Analyst
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Senior Manager, within a team of business partners and analysts. You will develop a good understanding of the business and its reporting and management information requirements in order to effectively deliver insight, add value and influence business decisions. The right candidate will have the opportunity to shape this role, and to grow and develop whilst supporting changing business needs.

Your Mission
- Producing store and category analysis including daily/weekly trading performance, trends and KPI reports
- Assisting with the setting and management of store targets
- Involvement in month end activity including the preparation of journals, variance analysis and reconciliations
- Supporting month end reviews with senior managers, and providing business partnering support to them and their teams
- Play a key role in supporting the budgeting and forecasting process
- Providing ad-hoc analysis and reporting to the business, such as the impact of promotions and events
- Assisting with the development of new MI reporting, systems and processes
- Producing competitor analysis and retail trends
- Any other tasks deemed necessary as the role and business develops
Skills that will set you apart
The successful candidate will be personable and a confident communicator who possesses first class analytical skills. Looking to complete a financial qualification such as CIMA/ACCA, which we will provide study support for, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- An analytical mind, with attention to detail and an inquisitive nature
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient, using initiative to get stuck in and resolve queries
- Strong Excel skills, with an enthusiasm for developing those further to streamline and automate manual excel documents
- Naturally inquisitive and willing to question processes and procedures, initiating improvements if required
- Strong organisational skills, flexible and able to adapt quickly to deliver on ad-hoc tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and build strong relationships
- Ability to interpret numbers into meaningful MI and communicate this succinctly
- Commercially astute with an interest in understanding the key levers in the business
- Experience in a retail environment is desirable though not essential
- Exposure to MI tools such as Cognos or TM1 would be advantageous, but again is not essential
