Fully woven into the DNA of M&S, our Finance team plays a fundamental role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping our budgets, analysing our sales, managing costs and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate.

You'll be preparing monthly cost reporting, journal preparation, variance analysis and Balance Sheet reconciliations alongside budgeting, forecasting, reporting and commentary for Retail costs area.

Your key accountabilities will include

• Preparation of regular and ad-hoc journals
• Delivery of accurate cost reporting and variance analysis - driving a ‘no surprise’ culture
• Provision of clear communication of monthly actual and quarterly outturn messages to key business partners, both Finance and non-Finance
• Support the Retail team with monthly and quarterly reporting for the whole business.
• Responsible for budgeting/forecasting of your area’s leading to variance analysis and commentary to guide the business to make key strategic decisions. Driving an increased level of insight through reporting & analysis to challenge current assumptions, find opportunities and deliver business benefit

Your skills and experience will include:

• Effective communication skills
• Outstanding business partnering skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking to enhance business decisions and potential risks and opportunities.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
