As a Finance Analyst (Business Energy Financial Control) you’ll focus on providing support to the Financial Control Manager and Financial Control Director, to ensure that the highest standards of financial control are applied across Business Energy.
You’ll have allocated responsibilities for financial accounting, financial controls, financial governance, and financial integrity within Business Energy. You will provide robust and accurate financial reporting of current and historical performance.
In addition, you’ll work with the business teams and wider finance teams, facilitating interaction and knowledge transfer where required, between the business teams and wider finance teams.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide support to the Finance Manager and the Director, Financial Control on all financial, accounting and regulatory matters across UKB Energy Supply
Support the production and reporting of current/historical activity across Business Energy including performance of all month end and post-month end accounting activities
Support the wider team to review and report performance of Business Energy against targets
Understand, reflect, and apply the appropriate Centrica accounting policies for Business Energy
Support the twice-yearly external audit of Business Energy and the annual preparation of statutory accounts
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Finance
Develop understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
Support Transformation activities through delivery of changes to financial control methodologies, to drive greater understanding, efficiency, and standardisation
Undertake bespoke reporting and analysis as required
To succeed in this role, you should have:
Financial control experience (i.e. audit, financial management, financial accounting/control), with a track record of process improvement. Knowledge/Experience of SAP/BW is preferable as is experience of Microsoft power tools.
You should also be educated to Degree Level Education or equivalent and hold ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified/Finalist.
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail, problem solving and reconciliations
Flexible and adaptable working in a small team for a highly regulated industry
Experience of analysing and reconciling data, identifying, and resolving issues, ensuring process robustness
Highly proficient at Excel, with a proven track record of designing, maintaining, and updating spreadsheet-based reporting
Ability to build and deliver robust month-end reports and accurate thorough reconciliations- variance analysis and explanation
Understanding of financial control and risk and control methodology
Influencing stakeholders with strong stakeholder management skills
Motivated by continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs
