Job Profile Summary
This role combines business development and commercial operations support, through commercial analysis, economic modelling, strategy and value optimization, governance, business planning, and supports important external relationships.
- bp’s Mauritania and Senegal business is one of the newest and most exciting of bp’s gas growth businesses - opening up new frontiers on the Africa Deepwater margin. This includes the innovative cross-border Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project (the fastest Deepwater discovery to sanction LNG project in the world) and other potential ground-breaking projects
- The regional business is highly multifaceted and fast paced, with a number of projects. This role will focus primarily on business development and commercial operations activities, working closely with the Gas Growth business development teams and Senior Finance Managers. Key aspects of the role will be negotiation support, commercial analysis and economic modelling
- This role would suit someone looking to develop their commercial skills and insight to support a challenging business.
Key accountabilities
- In this role you will provide critical commercial support, working closely with the business development, concept development project and Finance teams
- Analytical support for gas growth activities and other commercial workstreams for Mauritania & Senegal business.
- Use economic models to perform accurate analysis and assessment of value, and comply with bp economic modelling standards assured by tax and treasury
- This role also includes support of wider Planning & Performance Management team deliverables, including joint venture support and business planning.

Essential Experience & Job requirement
- Demonstrated ability to generate commercial insight, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding and experience of investment governance and economic modelling
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable in working reliably with people at all levels throughout the various functional areas of the organization
- Innovative attitude which embraces the opportunity to add value by devising innovative ways or solutions to overcome business hurdles
- Able to engage effectively as part of a team, absorbing new areas quickly and comfortable working autonomously, sometimes under high-paced work environment
- Upstream oil and gas experience and/or experience of M&A/Financing evaluations
- MBA or other formally recognized accounting qualification (CFA, ACA, CIMA, ACMA) or studying towards this qualification.
