You will work as a member of the financial accounting team, providing support to the Deputy Financial Accountant in all areas of technical accounting and assist with the day-to-day management/ maintenance of treasury and cash transactions and working balances.
You will ensure adherence to Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and approved policies and procedures and ensure adequate division of duties to meet audit requirements.
You will assist the Deputy Financial Accountant as required and should have knowledge of Financial Accounting regulations and payment and income policies.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Finance Manager – Financial Accounting in the production of the annual accounts and the financial elements of the annual report, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), national guidance and timescales, and to ensure that the accounts represent a true and fair view of the financial position of the Trust.
- Assist in compliance with all relevant accounting standards.
- Provide advice and assistance to colleagues on accounting issues.
- Assist with the preparation of Balance Sheet reporting and Cash flow statements on a monthly basis for inclusion in reports to the Board and Finance Committee.
- Supplying information to the CRU (Compensation Recovery Unit) in relation to Accident Claims, calculating the expected costs to be reclaimed, maintaining the CRU control account and updating the monthly trend spreadsheet.
- Assisting with the NHS Agreement of Balances exercise and other quarterly / yearly reconciliations.
- Reconciliation of Payroll and non-Payroll related control accounts including investigation/resolution of unidentified balances.
- Update bank mandates as required and prepares monitoring reports for bank charges/ transactions and assist with ad-hoc banking queries.
