About our team
This is an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our professional Finance Team at the heart of Mole Valley District Council.
The Finance Team is a friendly, multi-disciplinary team. It has skills and expertise across Accounting, Finance Business Monitoring, Treasury Management, Revenues and Exchequer Services. We work across the whole organisation.
What will I be doing?
- As an Accounting Apprentice, you will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Financial Services Team. You will be involved in a wide variety of accounting work, which will keep your days varied and interesting whilst building your knowledge and experience.
- You will work on our Statement of Accounts preparation, posting journals, calculating VAT submissions, setting up new Accounting codes, raising and monitoring Purchase Orders, and other tasks.
What are we looking for from you?
- Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, an understanding of good customer service, teamwork and an interest in developing a career in Finance
- We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work
- A Level 2 competency or functional skills qualification in both Maths and English (e.g. GCSE grade 4-9 / A-C), or other suitable qualification must be achieved or have been achieved
- Willingness and competence to undertake an AAT Apprenticeship qualification while working
- To engage in and complete a programme of work, study and training designed to develop the skills and abilities of the apprentice to achieve the AAT qualification

This is an initial 18 month fixed term contract with a possibility of extension to complete the Level 3 AAT.
