Job description
Summary
About us
Dyson is growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people. Our technology is unique and complex, so it’s up to us to explain it clearly. Working in-house, directly with engineers and the broader business, we create inspirational communications that showcase our technology.
At Dyson we challenge convention, continually experiment, and see opportunities where others see problems. The way we produce film communications content is no different – we’ve always set ourselves the challenge of using innovative approaches that others wouldn’t think of. This is a continual focus as our competitors get better and faster at copying us, so trying new ways to tell our stories is an ingrained way of working and culture.
We're committed to our campus culture and want to have people collaborating, developing, and learning from each other, five days a week. By having everyone on campus together, we have been able to nurture a fantastic social and dynamic environment.
About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on experienced film producer to work closely with our in-house filmmakers. You will be part of a busy collaborative team made up of several film and content producers, all reporting to the lead producer, working within the Planning & Operations team, based at our head office in Malmesbury.
You will be delivering a wide variety of film content projects, from global New Product Development (NPD) launches, to individual bespoke campaigns for individual markets. You will help to deliver interesting, creative, and often ground-breaking stories about Dyson products and the Dyson brand. Coverage will span from initial brief through to final delivery, managing all aspects to ensure we deliver compelling creative, with high production values, on schedule, and within budget, keeping Dyson ahead of the competition.
As part of your role, you will agree on detailed briefs and specifications for projects, interrogating brief owners and ensuring requirements are justifiable and achievable, and then develop detailed production timing plans. You will influence technical delivery methods at the earliest stage in the campaign development process, using credible production approaches, giving creatives clear parameters to work within.
You will contract external crew and kit, undertake logistics, produce shooting schedules, risk assessments, health and safety procedures, and call sheets, in collaboration with in-house filmmakers for in-house productions. You will develop relationships with external studios and suppliers and be comfortable outsourcing and managing productions from start to completion.
You will build and manage budgets for productions, negotiating costs where appropriate, looking at competitor bids, and communicating them clearly to project managers. You will identify continuous improvements and cost reductions in production through careful cost negotiation, detailed planning and analysis of wider content requirements, to ensure efficiencies are made where possible. You will ensure all talent contracts, licences and permissions are in place before filming and before final delivery of masters.
You will manage project risks and issues, escalating them when appropriate to do so, providing updates to project managers and the Head of Production. You will check that all security measures are in place for NPD projects, ensuring approvals are given prior to the release of any master assets.
