About you:

You are seeking a full-time and year-round technician role with a local, community-based company. You enjoy working with a small team and also work well independently. You are a learner and career development is important to you. You are personable, and build lasting, professional relationships with clients as well as your peers. You are a natural at trouble shooting and enjoy wearing multiple hats. Your previous experience provided you a good understanding of wiring and networking.

About the role:

The Field Installer Technician will install wiring and communications systems for our commercial clients. They will retrofit existing spaces with wall fishing, void spaces and surface raceway, and install communication wiring and systems to our signature high-quality standards. Wire work will be neat, drywall incisions accurate and completion of tasks will be timely. There will be a small amount of time spent in the office to update and maintain client records, and for skills development/education, but the work is primarily in the field.

This position will be the contact person on-site for the client. They will be trained to assess the scope of work, complete the job set-up and communicate well with the client and maintain that relationship at all times.

The technician will maintain their vehicle, track and manage materials and tools for each job, and accurately account for time spent.

Requirements: Experience in traditional telephone and network wiring and networking is essential.
Applicants who are comfortable programming phone systems, and/or basic networking admin courses, and with an ability to communicate with IT professionals are all assets to the candidate’s potential.
Technicians having strong IT skills that include the ability to configure and install routers, smart switches, and interface with servers is desired, along with a clear understanding of Firewalls, VPNs and WiFi.

The successful candidate will be trained on specific phone systems and provided ongoing career development according to market needs. It’s essential that the chosen applicant possess strong computer skills, excellent troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills and with confident and respectful people skills.

All applicants must have a valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
The selected applicant will be required pass a criminal record check and successfully obtain a security clearance.
