ROUSH CleanTech has an immediate need for a Field Service Engineer with a solid mechanical background and strong customer service skills. The Field Service Engineer would interface with our network of service centers and customers on a regular basis, on the phone, via e-mail and in person. Our ideal applicant will have a strong ability to listen to customers with an emphasis on relating to concerns and providing appropriate and well-timed responses. They will be responsible for meeting with, developing relationships with, and training new and existing service centers in their region of responsibility. A qualified Field Service Engineer will also be: well organized, task-oriented, able to demonstrate strong follow-through, willing to travel, and possesses a strong technical automotive understanding. This position is based in Livonia, MI.
As a Field Service Engineering Technician, you will:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair vehicle equipment and systems to component level failures experienced during operation
- Perform equipment updates to support testing of vehicle systems
- Communicate diagnostic findings to engineering staff for resolution
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) according to project expectations and vehicle Technical Manuals (TMs) or work instructions
- Receive direction from coordinators, customers, and supervisors
- Conduct daily meetings with team to brief on activities and program or project expectations
- Perform pre-drive and post-drive vehicle inspections
- Clean up and disposal including daily clean-up of assigned work areas and vehicles
- Manage time entry including verifying accuracy
To be considered a Field Service Engineering Technician, you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing vehicle systems
- Minimum of 2 years of diagnosing to component level and repairing newly integrated vehicle systems
- Proficient in the use of maintenance tools, repair and special tools, diagnostic equipment
- Proficient in working from Technical Manuals (TMs), wiring schematics, work instructions, work orders and follow-up of historic troubleshooter findings and notes
- Good computer skills, including MS Office
- Able to prepare written technical reports
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to interact professionally with others
- Ability and willingness to travel 75%
A successful candidate may also have:
- Certification in Automotive Engineering Technology or similar
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification
- Experience in alternative fuels
- This position may be performed remotely
