Job description
As a Field Service Engineer for Atlas Copco Tools & Industrial Assembly Solutions in the UK you will support our tooling and joinining solutions technologies for our customers across many industry sectors. You will need to have sound mechanical and electrical competence and be capable of supporting and working on software and integration systems with installation, commissioning and planned maintenance activities.
You will be part of the Service Business Line and support our Industrial Technique business areas:
- Motor Vehicle Industry (MVI)
- General Industry (GI)
- Industrial Assembly Solutions (IAS)
You will report directly to the Field Service Team Leader. This role is based in South West London/ Surrey area to provide service and maintance to customers.
What we expect of you:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated technician who can support the installation, commissioning and planned maintenance across our broad range of tooling and joining technologies. Mechanical and electrical competence is a given and with the growth of data services, software and integration skills are also a requirement. You will need to be able to work in complex production systems and be able to provide technical analysis and root cause diagnosis of the installed solutions. We expect the capability of dealing with production critical systems in industrial environments, understanding the links between tooing applications, customer’s production processes and the associated IT products and solutions.
- Successful candidate will be ideally located within commutable distance to Surrey.
- Significant travel within UK will be essential to be successful in this role.
- Occasional overnight stays and overtime in line with customer and business requirements will be expected.
Roles and responsibilities:
- To carry out pre delivery testing and inspection of tools as appropriate prior to delivery / site installation
- Installation and commissioning of new tooling and industrial assembly solutions at customer locations
- Provide support and assistance for project delivery, working closely with Project Managers
- System integration and configuration of customer PLC interfaces to Atlas Copco tooling
- Testing and validation
- Problem resolution and root cause analysis
- Customer training and operator guidance
- Supporting customer staff in pilot phases
- Provide full and professional tools service both in our workshop and at customers premises
- Determine and undertake all necessary preventative maintenance on all power tool products, Industrial Assembly Solutions products and software solutions
- To carry out calibration, testing and certification of all Atlas Copco power tool products, according to standard procedures
- Take ownership of our customer’s tooling and with the support of the Service Team seeing any situations through to its conclusion
- Identify and deliver sales opportunities (software / upgrades / optimization) for field service, working closely with our Service Sales Managers
- Support business development by delivering service excellence at all times
- To undertake ad-hoc projects as required

Qualifications:
HNC in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Has experience of a Manufacturing Environment.
Knowledge

Has knowledge of Industrial Power Tools i.e. Pneumatic, Battery and DC, and supporting software.
Has knowledge of either a Manufacturing or Customer Service Environment.
Network infrastructure knowledge.
Experience of PLC’s and line control systems
Has experience of providing a Service to customers
Software and IT knowledge to support Atlas Copco software platforms
