NZ Solutions Ltd – Network Fibre Splicing Engineer
Introduction
NZS are looking to complement its existing team with additional Fibre Splicing Engineers to support its continued growth across the UK.
The Role
As a Network Fibre Splicing Engineer, you will be responsible for splicing fibres in Agg Nodes, Splitter Nodes, CBTs and in a wide variety of buildings across both the public and private sectors including the provision of Fibre to the Home services and working within local and central government environments.
Using your excellent splicing standards and attention to detail, whilst following the splicing design drawings and specification, you will take great pride in delivering high quality consistent and compliant splicing to meet both NZS and our customers' expectations.

- Work on the fibre-optic infrastructure for Fibre FTTP network delivery.
- Working on PIA network.
- Splicing OH and UG and OTH Testing.
- Building CBT.
- Light testing.
- Carrying out Health and Safety.
- Splicing and testing of external optical fibres to the end customer premise in line with quality standards using OTDR /ILM/PMD/CD/EXFO FTB200 or similar.
- Live network Fusion splicing
- Installation of optical fibre cable, bundles and blown fibre tubing using fibre blowing equipment to required standards, including fault finding on existing network.
- Production of Fibre characterisation reports.
- Supporting company and client engineers to connect Residential and Business customers.
- Working as an individual and as a part of team to achieve targets and KPI’s.
- Adherence with Health and Safety legislation set out by the company and industry standards.
Desired Experience & Skills (Training can be provided):
- SA001 & SA002 PIA safety accreditation.
- N22 / N23 / N27 (S8) PIA overhead accreditation.
- K6 (S7) PIA underground accreditation.
- NRSWA Unit 2 Signing Lighting and guarding.
- Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Full UK Driving license is essential (as you’ll need to drive between site)
- Fibre experience essential: splicing, installing, blown fibre tubing or fault finding needed.
- A willingness to travel between our contract sites.
- Experience of running cables is essential.
- Tech-savvy with a keen interest in IT and Networking.
- Methodical approach to work.
- Have a basic understanding of Networking.
- Proficient in using technology - for example: tablets/mobile phones/Microsoft packages.
