Ashchurch:
You will primarily be working as part of a team of technicians based in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire. You will have the opportunity to visit other sites both in the UK and overseas installing fibre networks and/or repairing to a high standard.

For this role you will be based in Ashchuch, with access to work flexibly from the two different sites when practical. Normal hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times to meet the needs of the customer.
This role is within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group, which delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine engineering services to defence and civil customers across the globe. These range from UK and international naval fleet support, commercial marine, engineering consultancy, weapons handling, equipment support, intelligence, cyber security and training.

Fibre and Communications Technician Apprenticeship:
The Fibre and Communications Technician Apprenticeship will take two years to complete, based on site whilst undertaking distance learning and on the job training (OJT) using a trade mentor. You will complete training assignments and gather competency information to meet internal and external apprentice assessments.
- Install pre-designed fibre network
- Measure, cut and install containment for both fibre and power
- Undertake activities associated with light engineering
- Safe use of power tools
- Customer liaison/reporting/compulsory training
- IT/general administration
This programme will offer the opportunity to gain extensive experience within our on-site production department as well as the design, analytical and wider business areas for which our graduate scheme is held in such high regard.
This programme gives you a broad exposure to our business, including experience in analysis, design and install. There are also opportunities to undertake off-site placements at some of our other business units – something which we strongly encourage and support.

The aim of the apprenticeship scheme is to prepare you for an engineering post within the company with the opportunity to become a fully trained Fibre and Network Technician.

Additionally, the successful candidate must be eligible to gain Developed Vetting Clearance.
