Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Wage: $5,025 per month
Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month
- This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
- Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Director, and reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Returning Admissions and Recruitment Lead is responsible for coordinating and implementing recruitment and admissions strategies to meet the returning student (students who have left the University for more than one year without earning their undergraduate degree) enrollment goals for the university. The scope of the work entails developing and effectively coordinating on and off-campus outreach and recruitment efforts, including all recruitment efforts and services for returning prospective students, and those seeking admissions. The incumbent will act as the case manager and main designee for all activities related to the re-enrollment of returning students.
The incumbent develops strategies and leads the re-enrollment efforts through careful coordination with other departments such as the University Advising Center, Financial Aid, Registrar, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and Supplemental Instruction for the seamless transition of students back to the university. As needed, the incumbent is responsible for planning and leading meetings between Admissions and Recruitment and the above-mentioned departments to ensure the best experience for returning students. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive re-enrollment initiative, evaluating return on investment (ROI), providing reports to the Director and other university administrators, implementing new tools that enhance the student experience, researching best practices, and making suggestions for program improvement. The incumbent is responsible for designing and developing a comprehensive communication plan that attracts and engages returning students including the use of CRM, text, phone, and social media. As the lead for this effort, the incumbent is responsible to make referrals for the students, manage, and track their re-enrollment experience from re-engagement to the time they re-enroll at the university. The full scope of the Returning Admissions and Recruitment Lead’s work is accomplished through exercising significant latitude and independence in their recruiting assignments.
This position provides leadership in the areas of counseling, admission advising, follow-up, coordination of various recruitment events, delivery of presentations, application workshops, as well as other recruitment and admission activities to serve returning students.
This position requires knowledge of CSU admission policy and functionality of application processing in the PeopleSoft Student Administration System and involves heavy communication with applicants and other stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
- Advise students individually and in groups on complex student‑related matters and determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature.
- Collaborate with other campus coordinators, staff, and faculty regarding student advising, support services, academic and professional development resources, recruitment events, and outreach activities.
- Understand and abide by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and State of California policy regarding the confidentiality of records.
- Ability to be responsive, innovative, results-oriented, and student-centered in developing practices that help recruit students and address their academic program requirements.
- Effectively oversee day-to-day program operations and provide lead work oversight to the recruitment counselors/coordinators.

Education and Experience
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, conflict resolution or related field.
- Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
- A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
