FESTIVALS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help bring our festivals to life!
This is a fun and exciting opportunity to meet like-minded people with an interest in the arts and a chance to be part of the team to work on B-Side Hip Hop Festival & Birmingham Weekender.
B-SIDE Hip-Hop Festival will return to the city for seven days of extraordinary dance, performances, competitions and events this June celebrating 50 years since the birth of hip hop, our free annual festival will take place from 8 – 14 June and will bring together the best artists and acts from all four elements of the genre: breakin’, graffiti, DJ’ing and MC’ing.
Birmingham Weekender will return as the city’s streets, squares and shopping centres burst into colourful life, exciting and inspiring audiences with surprising and spectacular performances and participatory experiences from local, national and international artists from 25 – 28 August. The festival will bring joy, colour and playfulness creating collective, memorable, “goosebumps” moments.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to gain practical work experience, learn new skills, make new friends, and gain invaluable communication & team-working skills for your CV. You will receive training and be supported by our buddies to be a key member of our team.

WHAT COULD YOU BE DOING?
- Assisting audiences in finding their way around.
- Engaging with audience members to provide information.
- Assisting visitors with additional access requirements.
- Taking feedback from audience members on their experience.
- Production runner, artist liaison or assisting the team on the ground.
- People aged 18 plus who represent the communities of Birmingham.
- A passion for our city, creativity, and exceptional visitor experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Those available for at least one shift within a festival.
- Able to attend the volunteer briefing session.
A t-shirt and an expenses payment of £15 will be provided for each day to cover food and travel expenses.
In return for your commitment, you will have the chance to work with one of the country's leading venues, receive training and a reference/certificate will be provided to showcase your time with us.

Fri 9 June: 17:00 – 22:00
Sat 10 June: 09:00 – 14:00, 12:30 – 17:30 & 16:00 – 21:00
Sun 11 June: 10:00 – 15:00 & 13:30 – 18:30
A volunteer briefing session and shift times for Birmingham Weekender are to be confirmed.
There will be further recruitment for additional festival volunteers in July 2023.
