The role
The Festival Coordinator role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop partnerships with a variety of organisations as well as contributing to North Yorkshire’s cultural, tourism and economic agendas.
As Festival Coordinator, you will be a key part of the new Scarborough Fair team. The post holder is responsible for supporting the Festival Director to ensure the smooth planning, running and evaluating of the festivals, which take place year-round under the banner of the Scarborough Fair.
A diverse collection of festivals will be operated by the Scarborough Fair, including Scarborough Lights (a one month winter light festival in November-December), Scarborough Streets (a street arts festival over the first May Bank Holiday weekend), Scarborough Art (an affordable art trail for two months in June-August), Scarborough Fringe (an open-access fringe festival for two weeks in June), and Scarborough Extreme (a music and sports festival for one weekend in early September).
What you will bring
Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following key skills and experience:
- Proven experience in event coordination, preferably with a diverse range of festivals or events.
- Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills, capable of managing multiple festivals simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse teams, vendors and artists.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the arts sector.
- Existing arts industry contacts.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently when required.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work accurately under stress and to meet deadlines.
- Computer literate – Adobe, Word, Excel, Outlook
