FEMALE SUPPORT WORKER
JOB TITLE: Female Support Worker
LOCATION: SMS Care Ltd, 17a Gorse Road, Blackburn BB2 6LY
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Self, Service Users, Colleagues
RESPONSIBLE TO: Area Manager / Registered Manager
SALARY: £10.00 - £10.42 per hour
HOURS: Working a combination of shifts, from the hours of 07:00am to 22:00.
All Support Workers are required to work 5 days over 7, this is also including bank holidays, weekends which are on a rotational basis and in accordance with the operational rota system. All support workers are also required to do sleep-in shifts, which are paid additionally per sleep.
ROLE SUMMARY:
As a Support Worker your role and responsibilities are to provide a quality service, in line with the SMS CARE LTD guidelines and policies and procedures. In simple terms, you would be required to provide a service by promoting independence through positive reassurance and communication strategies with the upmost adherence to dignity, respect to our service users, who expect a quality and most importantly a reliable service within the home.
As your role would be to deliver our services to service users within the home, therefore we put our trust in you to provide a confidential, reliable, dignified, person-centered service, which are needs-led to meet the specific individual needs of our service users.
Daily duties and tasks will include but not limited to the provisions of requested personal care needs, social care needs and enabling care and support services to all our service users within the home.
PARTNERSHIP WORKING:
As a Support Worker, your role will be involved in collaborative working with other health &
Social Care professionals such as Doctors, Social Workers, District Nurses, Physio
Therapists etc. This is known as ‘partnership working’.

JOB SPECIFICATION:
1. To deliver high quality of care to Service Users and their families
- To provide the highest quality of care to service users in the home and in accordance with their individual support plan, using a person-centred approach.
- The range of tasks that the Support Worker maybe required to undertake covers and not limited to personal care, domestic/practical tasks, and enabling, promoting independence.
- Personal care includes washing, dressing, bathing, showering, toileting and medication monitoring and/or assistance, administration.
- Duties also include preparing and cooking meals, essential cleaning, shopping, assistance and support with health & safety including fire and first aid checks.
- Enabling and supporting include such activities as supervising, monitoring and coaching to empower service users to be as independent as possible and have control over their own lives. Support Workers may also be required to escort or accompany service users to outings, appointments or other events.
- To be aware of the personal needs and requirements of each service user, communicating successfully, not only with the service users but their family, friends and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure that all care & support needs are completed within the SMS Care Ltd Policies and
Procedures, Care Quality Commission Fundamental Standards and all contractual and legislative requirements.
