Senior Health Care AssistantEvening Shifts for bedtime routine 8pm to midnight Wednesday to Friday (12hours per week, £19/hr).We are looking for an experienced health care assistant to join a team of established carers to care and support a lovely lady in her own home.Our client is 67 years old with primary progressive multiple sclerosis which has resulted in tetraplegia/paralysis and osteoporosis. This post would be an excellent opportunity for a dedicated carer who enjoys one-to-one care to directly influence and improve quality of life. The job would best suit someone who is cheerful, patient and experienced in providing solid emotional support as well as delivering the more practical aspects of the role. An interest and experience in the emotional and psychological complexities of chronic disease and disability would be invaluable.Responsibilities:- Provide direct care and support to female with MS, osteoporosis and paralysis at her home.- Working a fixed rota pattern (Wednesday to Friday) lead the late shift and oversee the work of the HCA assisting you.- Take responsibility for medication and OTC audit, implement any required changes or titration, ensure appropriate stock levels, cascade the information to the rest of the staff team.- Take responsibility for the delegated clinical tasks: LVR breathing therapy, dental hygiene routine, Sleep system positioning and monitoring, hallucination management and reorientation (side effect of nighttime medication).- use Trauma-based care principles to manage anxiety and distress associated with loss of bodily autonomy, training with Tavistock and Portman hospital available if required.- Complete documentation as required to meet the NHS funding requirements.- Provide hands-on care to deliver her evening routine including fully hoisted lifts, manual positional adjustment and sleep system positioning. So must have up to date patient moving and handling confidence at level 2 or above.
