You don’t need any previous experience to become a support worker with Sense. We’ll give you full training for our part time and full-time roles. For genuine occupational reasons we are looking to appoint a female candidate only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).
Sense is looking for a Female Support Worker/ Communicator Guide within our fantastic South Wales Community Service . This role will be based in Pyle, Bridgend.
This is a permanent role working 4hrs per week with an hourly rate of £10.75.
Shifts are generally between Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm occasional evening and weekends may be required. We are able to be flexible with shifts so would love to discuss your options and hear from you!
The individual you will support is deaf and lives in sheltered accommodation. They communicate using BSL but are a very good lip reader. We can support you with additional BSL training if you have some BSL skills to perfect this valuable skill.
You may have cared for a family member in the past, and felt the reward? Or be a genuinely caring person looking to help positively impact an Individual's life? This role could suit someone with a young family or a semi-retired person. We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who are:

Caring and empathetic.
Good communicators and listeners
Easy going with a sense of humour
A full UK driving license and use of your own vehicle are essential
Basic British Sign Language skills essential
Have Right to work in the UK
Passionate about enhancing other people’s lives.
Knowledge of multi-sensory impairments / learning difficulties is beneficial.
Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role. No two days will be the same
