Job Advert SERVICE MANAGER ACCOMMODATION Contract: Permanent, full-time Salary: £51,000 per annum Location: Home-based Flexible across the UK (or based in one of our homes from home) Closing date: Monday 6th November 2023 When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them and you could be a part of the team making it happen. We are proud of our service which has been called Homes from Home. We are currently entering a new phase of our corporate strategy with an emerging future vision for an Accommodation service. We are looking for an exceptional leader to be our Accommodation Service Manager to play a key role in developing a service aligned with our new strategy and fit for the future needs of children and young people with cancer, and their families. We are looking for a leader with well-tuned people management skills; experience in managing a large service in dispersed locations and skills in ensuring health and safety, quality of service and continuous improvement. THE ROLE The Accommodation service provides free accommodation to enable children and young people who have cancer to access their treatment, and for them and their families to stay in homely accommodation close to the main cancer treatment centres. This helps to reduce the additional burden of cancer costs and helps families to remain together and access the support they need. You will directly manage the UK Team Leader and a small number of other direct reports. You will lead the team of Managers, Deputy Managers and Housekeepers who are based at multiple sites across the UK, working closely with the Team Leader. You will work closely with our Young Lives vs Cancer Social Care Service Managers, Head of Estates, charity partners and local NHS leaders. Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you. The post is 35 hours per week. This role is home based and can be based anywhere in the UK with regular visits to Young Lives vs Cancer workplaces. ABOUT YOU We would love to hear from you if you have significant experience of: People management of a large, dispersed team across multiple sites. Facilities management, Health & Safety compliance. Driving forward innovation, quality assurance, continuous improvement and a future focused service model, bringing teams with you and engaging them in the process. WHAT WE OFFER In return for your commitment, we offer a great reward package, which includes generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme and season ticket loan.
