About us
Alonuko, founded by British born, Nigerian Oluwagbemisola Okunlola is a Women's fashion brand which focuses on creating iconic pieces, that introduce every woman in their best self. Established in 2012, Alonuko is limitless when it comes to its source of inspiration. From World affairs, experiences during travel to dreams that initiate foundations for creative exploration, Gbemi expresses much of her perspective of life through design and presents it to the world through fashion.
Oluwagbemisola Okunlola was born on 17th August 1994, and raised in London by both parents amongst her four siblings. Okunlola, commonly known as ‘Gbemi’, recognised her creative flair, love for fashion and meticulous eye for detail at a very early age, and by 11, after growing up watching her mum create beautiful gowns for clients, followed in her footsteps and with one of the machines in a corner of the house, taught herself to sew.
Nearly 10 years since its inception, Alonuko is internationally recognised by the likes of Vogue, Insider, Huffington post and Essence to name a few. Renowned as a leading British bridal brand, particularly championed for their intricately hand designed embroideries and perfect matching illusion tulles, especially for women of colour- who are usually underrepresented, Gbemi continues to explore and create beyond the standard, to deliver exceptionally for the Alonuko woman.
Based in London, Alonuko caters to woman throughout the world, constantly finding more ways to reach as many of their customers in the most seamless way possible, through events such as trunk shows and pop ups. Alonuko products are created to work with the female form, not to hide imperfections or flaws but to accentuate desired features.
Gbemi believes, a woman should work with their qualities within, to edify her beauty without.
