YOUR ROLE
Reporting directly to the Senior Store Designer, the Intermediate Store Designer’s main responsibility is to provide creative, innovative, and on-brand design solutions in the development of all store concepts for ALDO, CALL IT SPRING & GLOBO brands for both ALDO Group North America (AGNA) and ALDO Group International (AGI) markets for all brand environments, as per the Project Briefs.
In addition to the concept & design development creative role the Intermediate Store Designer is also responsible to ensure the design intent conformity during technical development, value engineering, prototyping, production and store opening review.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational: 75%
- Ensure the design vision conformity throughout conceptual development phases (concept ideation, design intent, design development, finishes selection, technical development, pricing, shop drawings, construction set, fixtures set, prototype review, tooling, quality control, stores visits & post-mortem).
- Manage assigned projects deliverables & priorities to ensure they are on time.
- Participate at Design’s team meetings to align & troubleshoot issues.
- Deliver concepts proposals that are on brand, on time & on budget.
- Develop the right content & presentation structure/strategy adapted to the purpose of the project and audience.
- Deliver high quality design documents (Conceptual presentations, 3D renderings, Design Intent, Design Development, etc.) following established quality standards.
- Delegate tasks, provide supervision & guidance to the Design Intern
- Support Store Planner in the elaboration of concepts rationales for accurate interpretation in roll-out.
- Provide design expertise to the Store Planner, Technical Designer & CAD team in the production & maintenance of roll-out tools.
- Maintain conceptual tools up to date (sample room, 3D library, professional photos, creative boards, sample boards, etc.)
- Support Store Planner in Roll-Out layout planning in peak periods.
- Participate at troubleshooting design & technical solutions on an on-going basis.
Leadership: 15%
- Take ownership of the Design portion throughout all conceptual development phases of assigned projects
- Contribute to in-service training program and best practices by sharing design expertise with team.
- Participate in Designers team and One-on-One meetings to discuss key projects progress, performance goals and development goals.
- Pro-active participation in the setting & 100% completion of the OGSTM
- Pro-active participation in the completion of the personal training plan 100%
- Provide training & coaching to new team members and/or Design intern to ensure the team’s continuous growth.
- Exert positive influence on the other team members by being an ambassador of the Aldo group spirit
Strategic: 10%
- Provide on-brand creative and functional solutions in the elaboration of the concept development and custom roll-out services for all brands, for both AGNA & AGI markets.
- Work closely with the Senior Store Designer and Project Team to ensure that concepts and deliverables are aligned with Project Brief & Parameters.
- Maintain design high quality standards by following standard working process & by continuously developing creativity & design expertise.
- Maintain brand & trends awareness up-to-date and business relevant by leveraging various resources available (inspiration trips, memberships, conferences, etc.)
- Contribute to maintaining an internal network of collaborators (VM, Procurement, Sales and Operations, Product Development, Brand).
- Contribute to maintaining a network of consultants, freelancers, suppliers, artists and other resources to adapt to mandates & workload variations.
DO YOU HAVE THE PROFILE WE'RE LOOKING FOR?
- 5+ years of practical experience as a Store Designer
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related fields (Industrial Design, Environmental Design, Architecture)
- Visualizing & communicating concepts in 2D & 3D sketches, technical skills, understanding of construction drawings & manufactures shop drawings, knowledge of materials properties.
- Highly creative with strong knowledge of retail design, fashion retail & design trends.
- Proficient with MS suite, Abobe Creative Cloud,
- Experience in developing design proposals for cross-functional retail projects involving Store Designers, Visual Merchandising, MKT, Operations, IT and other internal & external stakeholders and resources.
- Experience in working with creative, procurement & roll-out teams
- Experience in producing in-house concept development from design brief to prototype store delivery.
