Job description
Plowright Organic is a family run business growing organic vegetables at Stowey Rocks Farm, an 80-acre farm in Over Stowey, near Bridgwater in Somerset. Each week we deliver over 400 veg boxes to homes in Somerset and Bristol. Most of the vegetables are grown on the farm on 20 to 30 acres.
We are looking for a farm worker to join our team. The work is varied and interesting and involves a combination of tractor driving and manual work.
We are looking for a practical person, a confident tractor driver who can learn to operate specialist implements for vegetable production such as planting, weeding and harvesting equipment.
You will also be expected to carry out manual field work such as harvesting vegetables, setting up crop irrigation and occasional hand weeding when necessary.
The job involves some weekend, late evening and early morning working during busy periods.
You will be trained and supported by Richard Plowright, the owner, while you settle in and become familiar with the equipment and ways of working.
Essential skills and experience for this role:
· A competent tractor driver
· Experience of a range of field operations
· Ability to problem solve and adjust machinery
· Knowledge of tractor maintenance
· Basic workshop skills
Essential personal qualities to excel in this role:
· A good natured, patient and respectful team player
· A willingness to cover for other team members when required, and to muck-in with other aspects of the work on the farm
· An open minded, flexible approach to work and an understanding that there is always more to learn
· Ability to work independently
· Enjoy working outdoors and being physically active
Desirable experience and qualities
· Experience of field scale vegetable production
· An interest in nature, soil health and vegetable production
· Forklift license

Salary: £22,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
