Salary: up to £ 28,763.85 per annum
JOB OVERVIEW
The purpose of the role is to support students within non-academic areas within the College, including reception, induction and registration, accommodation, arrivals, supporting student well-being, and social activities. In order to do this well, the team needs to maintain and build a strong network of contacts and relationships both within and outside the College.
The Student Support Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a selection of tasks; taking ownership for them, developing them, training others, resourcing and delegating to colleagues.
In the absence of the Student Services Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Student Support Team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Day-to-day management of the student-facing services
- Virtual Reception maintenance and content creation
- Monitoring of the quality of the above services and related procedures, and organising/providing training as required
- Acting as a lead on specific areas, as agreed by the Head of Student Support and Student Services Manager. This may rotate between team members on an annual basis.
- Ensuring professional and timely information and communication takes place with internal colleagues, related to Student Support team issues.
- Ensuring the smooth running of the reception and other student-facing environments, which includes organisation of the staff rota, gathering of information from other functional areas, targeting problem areas which lead to poor service, regular communication and review of the service with the wider team
- Overall responsibility for the organisation and management of specific activities, and providing support and guidance to team members carrying out the activities—this will also include participation in the events/activities
- Ensuring professional and timely information and reporting is released to external stakeholders including: parents, sponsors, guardians, agents, Study Group colleagues in the UK and overseas, The University of Sheffield
- Effective relationship management with stakeholders including: ELTC Professional Services and Senior Academic Team, key University departments such as Student Support and Guidance, Disability and Dyslexia Support Service, University Health Service, Students’ Union, private accommodation providers, sponsors, College Guardians
- Proactive establishment of new relationships which benefit the team and students
- Application and review of departmental policies and procedures such as: Special Circumstances, Appeals, Complaints, Attendance, visa renewals, welfare management
- Engagement with Study Group marketing and agent visits, including presentations and contribution to marketing materials
- Providing resources and support for other teams, as required
- Contribution to the Annual Report
- Working on the Reception
- Deputise for the Head of Student Support or Student Services Manager, as required.
- Participation in the new staff recruitment and training process
- Contribution towards team members’ professional review and development
- Participation in the Emergency Phone rota
- Recruitment, training, monitoring and management of student employees and temporary staff
- To carry out any duties, as required by the Senior Leadership Team

- Educated to GCSE level (including English & Maths) or equivalent or relevant experience
