We're looking for a seasonal Farm Worker to assist and support the National Trust’s in-hand arable farm operations. Working as part of the Farm & Countryside Team, we want you to provide the practical and technical skills to support with the silage, hay, harvest and cultivations operations.
This is a part-time role, working Tuesday-Friday each week, until the end of September 2023. You'll need to be able to work flexibly at harvest time, due to the nature of harvest work.

This impressive mansion and mixed organic farm is the only National Trust property that manages all its visitor attractions and activities in-house. The property attracts over 350,000 visitors a year who come to enjoy the nature, history and beauty found on the estate. We have managed our arable farm in-hand for 12 years and deliver almost all farming operations in-hand. Our arable farm is a commercial operation that generates important income for the conservation of the estate. We farm organically and are have a High Level Stewardship agreement that help us to create rich and diverse habitats as part of our arable farming.
You'll report to the Farm & Countryside Manager and work closely with the arable farm team, over harvest time and autumn cultivations. The farm team are an experienced and supportive bunch of eight, working the arable and livestock farm, and open farm with horses, including Shire horses. We collaborate closely with three countryside rangers to manager the estate sustainably. The working farm has had Organic Farmers & Growers accreditation for over 15 years and is a Nation Trust flagship for conservation practices.

What you'll be doing:You'll be supporting the Farm & Countryside team to deliver our in-hand mixed farming at Wimpole Estate. This is a practical role, where efficient and safe working is essential. Your core activities will be tractor based work to produce silage and hay, maintaining arable leys, carting grain at harvest and assisting with autumn cultivations to maintain a smooth and efficient farming operation.
At times, you'll be working in accessible countryside. You'll need to be able to work in line within our agri-environment scheme commitments. At all times, you'll be acting to protect and enhance the National Trust’s assets and reputation.
- Competence with machinery/equipment such as tractors and loaders
