Farm Shop Manager

Farm Shop Manager Tavistock, England

Eversfield Organic Ltd
Full Time Tavistock, England 26000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Eversfield Organic is looking for a Shop Manager. Our family-run farm, based near Okehampton, has been busily delivering organic meat, veg and groceries to homes across the country for over 15 years.

As our General Manager, you'll be a positive leader, self-motivated and ready able to inspire your team and customers alike. You’ll ensure the smooth running of our shop, selling a wide range of organic meat, charcuterie and cheese, organic dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, store cupboard staples, freshly baked bread & drinks. Working closely with our office and production teams on the farm, as well as managing the instore team, you’ll be the one to create a foodie destination to make Tavistock proud.

Who are we?

Eversfield Organic delivers fresh fruit & veg, organic meat, fish and poultry, artisan baked goods and creamy Jersey dairy produce, to homes across the UK. We are lucky enough to work on the Bury family farm, where much of our organic beef and lamb is reared, on the outskirts of Dartmoor.

We believe the best food is the result of responsible farming and food production – animal welfare, care for our land and the environment are at the heart of what we do. We are certified organic by the Soil Association and part of the Pasture Fed Livestock Association, showing our dedication to working with nature, not against it.

Our skilled butchery team butcher all our organic meat on the day of dispatch to ensure it is absolutely the freshest it can be. Along with newly picked veg and other fresh produce, our organic meat reaches customers just the following day – you simply can’t get fresher than that!

We work with a wide range of organic artisans and small batch producers in order to showcase the best of the South West and beyond. Our aim is to show that great food is the result of responsible farming, great ingredients and passionate producers.

Is it you we’re looking for?

We are looking for a professional juggler – someone who can manage a team, organise stock and till systems, keep a focus on sales, provide world class customer service and have an eye for visual merchandising – all this while wearing a smile!

You’ll need to be an organisation fanatic who is big on keeping things running efficiently while maintaining an essential attention to detail. You’ll be a positive personality ready to be the face of our company in our local community.

We’ll need you to be confident you are able to hit the ground running. Although we’ll give you training in the business and our produce, we need you to be self-motivated and experienced in the role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Top quality leadership, supervisory and organisational skills
  • Knowing the product range and farm story inside out and back to front
  • Manage stock levels and support Purchasing Manager & Business Liaison Manager
  • Manage cash and POS system

  • Providing customer service and sales day-to-day
  • Initiating changes to improve the shop appearance, customer experience and sales
  • Working closely with senior directors, providing updates on the shop’s performance and areas for improvement
  • Reporting any maintenance issues to head office and supporting in dealing with any contractors

The role requires 5 days per week which will likely include at least one day each weekend. We believe that two days off is good for the soul, so wherever possible we will rota as such.

Flexibility is expected, especially during peak trading periods such as Christmas.

What are the perks?

  • Being part of a lively, sociable team
  • Leading an exciting new venture for our business
