FARM SHOP COOK ASSISTANT

We make all our own produce from scratch in small batches in the farm shop kitchen using our own meat and local ingredients wherever possible to be sold in our farm shop.
We are looking for a hardworking, self- motivated, reliable person with attention to detail to join our busy kitchen team as a COOK ASSISTANT. This is a permanent part time role with sociable hours, no evenings. Our hardworking team is the beating heart of the business and each and every team member is important to our success.
Cook Assistant role involves:
- Preparation of all fruit, vegetables and other raw materials to be used by the kitchen
- Produce food from scratch in time and with training, following our recipes and methods starting with soups and cakes and progressing on.
- Producing food for retail sale to a consistent standard and in the correct quantities, with accurate packing and labelling.
- Correct management and stock rotation of ingredients and finished products for retail sale.
- Maintaining an exceptionally high standard of tidiness and routine cleaning.
· About you:
- You must have your own transport as this is a rural location.
- Have at least 1 years’ experience of kitchen work and ideally, though not essential, a catering qualification or basic cooking skills.
- Be flexible with a can do attitude, quick work pace and be eager to learn and progress.
- Be a strong team player, honest and hardworking and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Have high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
The Job offers:
- Minimum 3 days per week including alternate Saturdays by rota and sociable hours between 7am-5pm. Please note our day is 8-9 hours, we work Monday - Saturday.
- Extra days/hours will be required at busy times such as Christmas and during holiday cover.
- Good rate of pay depending upon skill and experience, starting £10.50/hour (age dependent).
