Family Support Worker, Staffordshire’s Family Support and Outreach Service
Vacancies based in Stafford
Full-time (37 hours per week) and part-time hours will be considered, please state your preference on the application form Grade 2 point 11-15: £20,579 - £23,268 per annum, pro rata

This is an exciting role within Family Action’s Central Region that will contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims to ensure that Family Action is Stronger than Ever.
We are delighted to have been awarded the ‘Family Support and Outreach Service’ in Staffordshire Moorlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Cannock Chase, South Staffordshire, and Stafford areas of Staffordshire, which will be launched on April 1, 2022.
We are excited to contribute to the Building Resilient Families and Communities (BRFC) programme, in Staffordshire, which takes a whole family, multi-agency approach, in supporting & empowering parents to take much greater control over their own health and wellbeing within the emerging model of Family Hubs. With shared aspirations and ambitions for Staffordshire, we aim for all children to ‘be happy and healthy’, ‘feel safe and belong’ and ‘achieve and contribute’. (Strategic Plan 2018-22).
We are looking to recruit motivated and experienced Family Support Workers to work within our Staffordshire Family Support & Outreach Service.
Summary of job:
The post holder will share and embrace Staffordshire’s vision of ‘a county where big ambitions, great connections and greener living give everyone the opportunity to prosper, be healthy and happy by.
- Delivery of a Referral based Family Support - offering a targeted, trauma informed whole family restorative approach for families in need (creating Early Help Assessments, Action Plans, Sustainability Plans and completing Outcomes Stars)
- Undertaking Targeted Outreach Visits from the monthly list provided by Staffordshire County Council
- Supporting families to access Family Hubs, community support, groups, universal offer and entitlements
- Supporting families to access the Free Pass Card scheme if they are facing financial barriers to accessing groups
- Delivery of evidence and practice-based interventions, targeted group work, and digital interventions (Solihull approach, motivational interviewing, restorative approaches, strengths/solution focused modelling, Incredible Years etc.)
- Working alongside volunteers to identify activities to support the family (Peer support, mentoring, information, and guidance.)
- Family Support Workers will be Qualified in Health and Social Care, youth work, early years and childcare, counselling, or a relevant professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 working towards Level 4 in post.
- Staff will be experienced front line practitioner with demonstrable experience in child and family practice
The service provides practical and emotional support to children, young people, and their families, through a mixed programme of Referral Based Family Support, Targeted Outreach Visits, and Support to access community support, groups, universal offers, and entitlements. Using restorative practice, the service will embed a strengths-based approach, engaging and enabling children, young people, and families to access the right support, at the right time, within their local communities, increasing families’ resilience and preventing needs from escalating.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families. The successful candidate will be highly personable, with first-rate communication and organisational skills. A driving license and access to your own car is desirable for this post.
