Role: Family Practitioner
Circa Salary: Up to £27,000 per annum
Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
Contract/Hours: Permanent - Full time - 37 hours a week
Location: Newcastle

About the Role:
Family Practitioners - Family Engagement
Family Practitioners will work closely with families and engage them in Family Engagement Programmes, drop-ins, or community activities that they will deliver or will be delivered in conjunction with a range of partner agencies. This will include groups around parenting skills, improving health and wellbeing, issue based groupwork with young people and supporting pathways to employment.
The service also provides a range of holiday activities for children and families with Family Practitioners actively supporting these. You will develop groupwork and engagement activities in response to local needs across North inner and outer west localities (locations will be discussed at interview stage).
As a Family Practitioner you'll be:
- Setting up a variety of activities and group work programmes in response to local need.
- Building vibrant community-based services in our network of Community Hub buildings.
- Working with a range partners and agencies to bring services together in one place which is convenient and accessible to all families with children 0-19.
- Using an approach which is solution focused, persistent and supports families to access resources within the Children and Families Newcastle offer.
- To offer practical help, reassurance, and encouragement to parents in developing confidence, parenting, and employability
- To encourage parents, carers, and community members to build their skills through volunteering opportunities, training and adult learning.
- Contribute to the delivery of integrated services including, but not limited to, those that support 1001 Critical Days, Reducing Parental Conflict, UNICEF Baby Friendly status, Child Friendly City and Supporting Families
What You'll Bring:
- Experience of delivery of family focused work.
- Have a sound understanding of the needs of vulnerable families and be able to offer solutions to meet their support needs, including evidence-based.
- Understand child protection issues and to act appropriately should an area of concern arise, in line with organisational policy and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external relationships.
- A sound understanding of Action for Children's values and behaviours.
- The ability to complete whole family assessments, maintain records in line with our policies and procedures, and provide reports as required.
