Family Learning Tutor – Maternity cover
Geographical area/region: Nottingham/Nottinghamshire
Salary range (pro rata): £26,000 to £30,000

Interested in working with adults, helping them to support their children’s learning and behaviour in school, as well as at home? Class sizes of 7-10 adults plus children for some courses.
Life Education Centre East Midlands are looking for an active, outgoing and enthusiastic tutor to join our small and supportive team to work in schools throughout Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City. Our courses are mostly Mental Health and Wellbeing, including internet safety. There are two IT based courses as well, but this is not essential. All teaching resources, including schemes of work, lesson plans, PowerPoints and IT equipment are provided.
This is a temporary full time teaching post, covering a maternity leave.
You will have:
· An adult education teaching qualifications/experience, knowledge and proven skills in Wellbeing and PSHE
· the ability and willingness to travel, using your own transport, to schools throughout the region at the times necessary
· This is an active role involving gentle movement and carrying of lightweight equipment.
· The successful candidate will be supported by a strong, friendly team, whilst at the same time working from home.

JOB DESCRIPTION – Family Learning Tutor – ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Family Learning courses
To deliver a full range of Family Learning courses, working with Parents and Carers and children in both schools and other venues throughout the region, and ensure their integration into the education process in that region.
To liaise with schools, other delivery partners, and other statutory and voluntary agencies, when needed
To offer accreditation opportunities to all learners on every course where appropriate.
School contacts and administration
To contact schools and work with other partnership organisations to recruit; and to ensure that the school is well prepared to receive Family Learning, by:
- visiting and discussing with all staff the content and the aims and objectives of the programmes, the teaching style, prior to commencement of the programme
- working out a schedule/timetable for the Courses and doing administration in relation to the Course.
- Using Service Level Agreements to ensure safe and high-quality provision.
- Follow all Health and Safety, and Risk Assessment guidelines and procedures.
- To arrange crèche facilities where needed
- Working in partnership with school staff to recruit enough adult learners to each course to meet the targets set by the funders including levels of learning, gender, disabilities, special needs, attendance and retention.
- Maintaining a high-quality Tutor Folder which includes Scheme of Work, Lesson Plans which are annotated for each individual course, venue, learners etc., highlighting Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Registers and ILPs including and personalised learning.
- Completing all paperwork to the standard expected by City Family Learning and County Inspire Learning, and returning it to City CFL, Inspire and Sue Archer in a timely fashion.
Course Delivery
To ensure that learners receive a high-quality learning experience which helps them to increase their confidence and skills in supporting their children’s learning, with particular reference to the learning outcomes of each course, and also the key aims and objectives and ethos of LEEM and Coram Life Education.
To provide high quality resources to support the learning.
To ensure that there is a positive, solution focussed ethos within the group, which is non-judgemental, and which encourages the sharing of good practice amongst the learners.
Personal and Professional Development
- To undertake such training and development courses as are deemed necessary or appropriate by LEEM, Family Learning, Inspire Learning or Sue Archer or Cheryl Fox.
- To undertake such research or reading as necessary to maintain, and be able to demonstrate, professionally acceptable levels of knowledge, understanding, and familiarity with issues relating to the courses.
- To take part in Life Education East Midlands personnel appraisal scheme, including lesson observations.
Research, Evaluation, and Development
To make reports on school visits, development and Courses delivered as are requested by LEEM, Inspire Adult and Community Learning Service or Nottingham City Community and Family Learning.
General
By mutual agreement, to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required from time to time in connection with the work of Life Education Centres Nottinghamshire.
