Summary of role
Reporting to the Head of Horsham Office
To provide direct paralegal and administrative support to the Legal Team of Family Law Partners as requested to enable maximum efficient operation of the firm.
Family Law knowledge essential and practical Family Paralegal experience within a Law firm essential. A practical assessment will form part of the interview process.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Supporting fee earners in handling client matters and with client liaison
- Dealing with initial enquiries
- Drafting client care documents and costs estimates
- Attending client meetings alongside the legal team and producing attendance notes as requested
- Drafting and proof reading legal documents and preparing written reports as requested
- Filing and keeping electronic and paper files in good order
- Liaising with Courts/Counsel/Other third parties/legal contacts
- Briefing/instructing and preparing document bundles for counsel
- Preparing Court Bundles
- Drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Attending at court with fee earner and/or Counsel
- Arranging appointments
- Liaising with Counsel’s clerk and other experts and negotiating fees
- Undertaking legal research using a variety of online and other reference sources
- Answering the phones, meeting & greeting visitors, copying, scanning, filing and general support
- To ensure confidentiality of the firm’s and clients’ documents and information
- To maintain and ensure the highest standard of client care
Any other relevant tasks required to provide support and assistance to the team as required.
