About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adult Services Team at Suffolk Family Carers, providing information, advice, guidance and emotional support to family carers; to complete carers assessments and emergency plans in line with statutory guidance. This is a rewarding role that will see you actively supporting family carers with practical help, assessing the needs of the family carer using a solution focused approach.
You will be part of the larger friendly and supportive Adult Adviser team who work within Adult Services, with the opportunity for hybrid working.
Key tasks for this role:
· To provide in-depth information, advice, guidance and emotional support to family carers in all communication formats.
· To accurately complete and record Carers Assessments and interactions with family carers on Suffolk County Council’s database (Liquid Logic) and our internal database (SCIL).
· To actively listen to family carers, gaining an understanding of their caring role and the impact it has on them.
· To flexibly work across the services, within reasonable expectations, as and when required, to support business need.
· To work closely with, and refer to, other Suffolk Family Carers services, as required.
· To signpost or refer family carers to organisations for further support and information
About you
If you have the following, we would love to hear from you:
· The ability to communicate in an empathetic and tactful way in difficult and emotional circumstances
· Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
· Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds and at all levels
· Understanding of safeguarding (adults and children) procedures
· Excellent use of IT, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, databases and PowerPoint
· Ability to travel between locations as required
This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will be carried out following acceptance of any offer made to the successful candidate
