ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Technical Support Manager the role will encompass induction and demonstration of technical processes to groups and individual students alike allowing them to achieve their creative goals, while also contributing to the day-to-day running and technical activities of the department. The post holder must also display a strong understanding of the health and safety requirements involved within the management and running of associated environments. Key responsibilities of the role include: The role holder will offer technical support to students and staff on the Foundation and BA Music programmes therefore a familiarity with the equipment and technical requirements is required. Advanced knowledge of different types of analogue and digital sound equipment including microphone technologies and PA systems. Use and operation. Practical sound and lighting skills involved with supporting performances and productions. These could include Music and performing arts performances. Good knowledge and operation of Q-lab. Deliver training and induction sessions in the safe use of equipment and materials. generating orders, maintenance of the studio equipment, sourcing of equipment and general upkeep of the areas related to these subjects. move and set up equipment and materials to different locations as required. Rig and operate lighting and sound systems for any Performing Arts performance (there may be a need for occasional evening or weekend performances) based on technical requirements given by staff and / or students. Upkeep of technical equipment including maintenance and Pat Testing Providing assistance to students producing sound recordings Assist with visual recording of performances, transferring these to digital media and storage. Setting up, and de-rigging, of all performance spaces (including seating) prior to, and after, all performances. Ensuring that all spaces are ready to be used after the event.
