Position: Factory Operations Manager

Job Type: Full-time, Shift-based (rotating shifts: 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00, 22:00 - 06:00) 40hrs per week
Pay: £45,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Factory Operations Manager to join our team. As a Factory Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the bakery operations as well as the logistics and cleaning team during your assigned shift. Your main focus will be on floor management, food hygiene and compliance, production quality checks, administration of traceability and stock software, equipment and inventory management, staff training and development, and production planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage the bakery floor during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to quality standards.
- Uphold strict food hygiene and compliance regulations, implementing and monitoring safety protocols, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the bakery.
- Conduct regular production quality checks to ensure all products meet the company's high standards and specifications.
- Administer traceability and stock software to accurately track inventory, monitor stock levels, and ensure efficient stock rotation.
- Manage equipment maintenance and oversee inventory management, ensuring all equipment is in working order and maintaining appropriate stock levels of raw materials.
- Provide training and development opportunities to all staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Work closely with the HR team to manage / oversee any employee relations issues within your team, including any individual grievance, disciplinary, performance and absence issues.
- Collaborate with the production team to plan and optimise production volumes, production runs, and efficiency, aiming to maximize productivity while minimising wastage.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including staff retention, wage costs, production quality, production efficiency, and wastage.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a bakery, factory or food production environment.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and compliance standards, with a focus on ensuring adherence to regulations.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills to effectively manage a dynamic production environment.
- Proficiency in using traceability and stock software for inventory management and reporting.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively train and motivate a team.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
