We are looking for a hands-on candidate with evidence of making positive change to manufacturing process and thrives in the factory. The right candidate will be calm under pressure, consistent in their application to improving standards and a strong people person. This is a demanding job that requires patience and energy. Enjoying an SME experience is strongly preferred.
As Factory Manager, you will manage and control the production operation and contribute in the development of operations strategies in order that finished product is available in full and in line with customer requirements. Ensuring high standards of product quality, food safety, legality and health & safety are met in line with customer specification and legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the manufacturing and site operations to deliver best quality products and high customer service levels.
- Help to facilitate coordination between inventory controller, production manager and prep manager.
- Support New Product Development and coordinate factory trials.
- Create and promote an environment that encompasses Health and Safety as a priority and a GMP culture.
- Liaise with the Senior Management Team to identify the correct level of resources and manage the operation within these agreed parameters.
- Work to meet KPIs, including labour budgets and wastage reduction, including right first time.
- Continuous Improvements. Prepare and analyze reports to coordinate and implement necessary changes.
- Ensure an exceptional level of customer service through on time deliveries and minimal customer charges and shortages.
- Support inventory controller as required to successfully manage stocks and cost reduction.
- Liaise with MD on factory performance and areas of resourcing required.
- Ensuring all technical systems in place are adhered to correctly.
- Work closely with Technical to ensure quality food standards are met and maintained.
- Act as key point of contact on site for external stakeholders and visitors for example landlord and auditors.
- HR: Approve staff holidays, approve weekly payroll with finance team, review accident reports and implement corrective actions. Liaise with HR for recruitment purposes and processes.
- Proactively look at ways to improve the factory operation.
- Motivating factory workers and management to continually achieve factory targets.
As Factory Manager you have a moral and legal duty of care to those employees working within your area of responsibility and as such your duties will include:
- Involvement in the risk assessment process, to reduce the risk to health & safety on site
- Ensuring that all information relevant to “preventative and protective measures” is passed to your subordinates
- Liaise with the health & safety department/co-ordinator to establish controls for health & safety to include:
1. Daily Start Up checks
2. Accident & Near Miss Investigations
3. Monitoring of corrective actions
4. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that planned preventative
maintenance is carried out for safety systems for machinery & equipment on
site.
