About The Role

Manchester City Council has an opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join the team based in Ardwick who provide a Facilities Management service to workplaces across the city.

Facilities Management is part of the Corporate Estates Team within Strategic Development and works across directorates providing a range of support services, compliance and workplace solutions.

Responsibilities of a Facilities Manager include (but are not limited to):
  • Manage the provision of a comprehensive and responsive facilities management service, leading on the development of processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of effective services, implementing new ways of working
  • Manage the effective deployment and leadership of staffing throughout the service ensuring that the services provided represent best value, are delivered in an efficient and effective manner, and are in compliance with all relevant policies and current legislation, including Health and Safety regulations.
  • Drive forward projects of work taking full responsibility for the delivery of objectives and ensuring effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage designated budgets and meet performance targets ensuring that systems and practices support and enhance the service.
Roles at this level will be required to undertake management of resources, including human and financial. Staff management may be through direct line management of a team (including appraisals, performance management and other duties) or through matrix management of a virtual team of officers.

About the Candidate

The successful candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate the generic behaviours and skills as listed on the role profile.
In addition, they will have high profile customer service experience. The role holder must be flexible and able to work under pressure in a changing and conflicting environment.
