Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the role of Facilities Assistant, working with the University Estates Facilities Team delivering outstanding site facilities across Bournemouth.
The role involves general porterage & caretaking duties, handling, delivering and collecting post, minor repairs, providing a building presence and fire cover throughout the day. The role can, at times, be physically demanding and involves a range of manual handling tasks. The ability to solve practical problems is required.
This is a uniformed position as required. The postholder will work a 2 week early shift (0700 to 1500 Mondays - Thursdays, 1430 Fridays), and 1 week late shift (1200 – 2000 hours Mondays - Thursdays, 1230 – 2000 Fridays). A 10% shift allowance is paid for this shift work.
The post will primarily be based and deployed from the Talbot Campus but deployment direct to the Lansdowne Campus will be made dependent on the shift and deployment rota. The role will provide coverage at other BU sites, notably Chapel Gate near the airport.
This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.
If you would like to chat about the role please contact Jim Evans, Campus Services Manager on 01202 961625.
BU values and is committed to an inclusive working environment. We seek a diverse community through attracting, developing and retaining staff from different backgrounds to contribute to inspirational learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society. To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
