£13.50 - £14.00 Depending on experience - Overtime available
Monday to Thursday 0715 – 1615
Friday 0715 - 1415
Introduction of the company:
Stirland Associates are recruiting on behalf of a one of the UK's leading steel fabricators and they are looking to expand their teams of Fabricators and Welders. We are looking for highly-motivated and skilled individuals with advanced knowledge of working on Medium to Heavy Gauge Industrial Structural Steel projects, including gantries, bridges and bespoke fabrications.
Due to working to exacting specifications, you will need to be proficient with fabrication tools and hold experience in working on complex projects within a heavy engineering environment,
Purpose of the role:
As a Fabricator, you are responsible for assisting in the fabrication and assembly of steel structures such as products for steel frame structures, bridges, tanks, silos, stairs, walkways etc. in line with customer / client requirements. Follow job order, verbal instructions, and fabrication drawings. Undertake work safely and efficiently meeting company H&S and quality expectations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Develop layout and plan sequence of operations
- Apply knowledge of trigonometry and allow for thickness and welding and distortion shrinkage
- Locate and mark positions for fitting components onto main workpiece
- Carry out pre-checks and set up to operate the safe use of machine tools associated with fabrication such as drills, abrasive wheels and flame cutting equipment
- Construct templates and jig fixtures
- Verify conformance of workpiece to tolerance specifications using square, ruler and measuring tape
- Mark item for further processes such as welding and/or protective treatment
- Sign-off fabrication drawing on completion of assembly
- Follow management instructions and safe working practices
- Ensure work area is kept clean and tidy
- Maintain work equipment, identify any faults with work equipment or materials and inform supervisors
- Operate all necessary safety equipment and ensure correct PPE is always used
- Operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for fabrication
