Fabrication of metal framework. To work with team members to ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with customer and company requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fabricators are responsible for the fabrication of metal framework involving cutting, repairing, and assembling of girders, beams, columns, and other components to form complete structures:
- Ensure housekeeping, environmental, H&S, Quality standards and work instructions are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure that non-conformances and hazards are reported as soon as they occur.
- Analysing structural drawings to layout the framework of a structure.
- Employ appropriate welding methods in completing fabrications.
- Ensure welding tasks are performed in accordance with all external codes and legislation.
- Evaluating finished welds to ensure they are flawless and meet set specifications
- Collaborate with third party inspectors and other workers to achieve goals.
- Calibrate welding tools and equipment according to the parameters listed in the welding procedure specification (WPS).
- Carry out post welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of work pieces.
- Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and conform to set specifications.
- Troubleshoot structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects
- Using power saws in cutting metal materials into desired shapes and sizes.
- Checking angles and gap allowances by means of precision measuring instruments such as e.g. micrometres and callipers.
- Operate electric cranes to transport work pieces and metal components.
- Ensuring equipment condition is in good working order and to facilitate repairs in case of a defect or damage.
- Conduct periodic preventative maintenance such as lubricating moving parts to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and SSoW when performing hazardous welding operations
- Carry out any additional duties as required.
- Ensure all health and safety requirements are met and documentation completed as required.

- Ensure knowledge of and compliance with all relevant quality, health, safety and environment policies and procedures.
- Assist with the training and development of others.
- Ensure effective communications.
- Undertake any training necessary to achieve required competencies.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Fabricators must be able to read and interpret structural drawings and diagrams.
- Certifications in specialized welding processes.
- Welding competency tests from a recognised welding association.
- About 2-6 years of fabricating experience.
- Understanding of quality standards relevant to their role.
- Competence and sign off of JSA / SSoW for any workplace activities undertaken.
- Problem solving skills.
