Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (TRS) Apprenticeship Programme

Develop the commercial intelligence to impact clients large and small – and gain the skills to help businesses beat the competition. All while you embark on a career journey you can own, shape and grow.

“I was worried about asking too many questions when I first joined, but everyone has really encouraged me to do so and made me feel so welcome. It's helped me to develop and be confident.” – David, Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy Apprentice

About the programme

Help businesses navigate through uncertain times, ask the difficult questions that could lead to their success, and make key decisions that result in better strategies built for tomorrow. That’s what working in TRS is all about. Advising our clients on the best course of action for their businesses. Here, you’ll learn the value of true commerciality, how to transform organisations, what it’s like to manage businesses through crisis, and give a huge range of organisations – from start-ups to governments – the confidence to thrive.

What will you be doing?

  • Solving urgent and important business problems by analysing data and proposing solutions for underperforming businesses.
  • Undertaking an arrange of tasks required to manage a company that is going through an insolvency process.
  • Gaining the technical skills to tackle national and international challenges.
  • Collaborating with passionate colleagues in a hybrid environment as you put your ambitions into action.

How is it structured?

You’ll build great networks and relationships, learn to make quick, practical decisions and work through problems decisively. As you progress, you’ll get to do all this with more autonomy and responsibility. We’ll show you the importance of a commercial mindset in selling and marketing businesses too.

As well as having lots of support from your team and in-house training opportunities, you’ll complete the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business qualification and then a full qualification through ICAEW. By the end of the programme, you’ll have a lot of experience, a professional qualification and great network to continue building a career from.

Alongside our programme offering, we give you all the training and exposure to real-world work you could want. We also offer company-wide and programme-specific rewards that make all the hard work worthwhile. These include wellbeing initiatives, a free tech MBA, healthcare support, a pension scheme and more.

Technology in TRS

You’ll work with visualisation and analytical tools, automation and artificial intelligence to deliver faster, more insightful client deliverables. You’ll need a head for analytics, the ability to say no when you need to, a passion for collaboration, an honest approach and keen societal awareness. This is your opportunity to build a better working world alongside people who are there to push you to your full potential and technologies that will enhance your work.

This is where your adventure begins and where you have every opportunity to build an exceptional experience. Embrace the challenge as you help us build a better working world for everyone.

Are you eligible to apply?

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have completed three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent).

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for people who will succeed at EY today and tomorrow. That's why, through our recruitment process, your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We’re also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background.

EY recognises that it has clear obligations towards all its people and the community at large to ensure that partners, employees and job applicants are afforded equal opportunities to enter employment and progress within the firm. As an employer committed to establishing an inclusive environment free from unlawful discrimination, the firm promotes the fair treatment of staff members and job applicants regardless of their sex, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age or pregnancy/maternity status.
