Tax Apprenticeship Programme
Enjoy exposure to huge corporate accounts. Drive your future in tax. Gain the skills to support our hypergrowth. And embark on a career journey you can own, shape and grow.
About the programme
Tax supports our lives, communities, environment and society in more ways than you can imagine. Laws continue to change – and the way we manage tax must evolve to keep up. We help companies navigate these changes and challenges. And make sure they’re on the right track when it comes to paying the right amounts of tax.
As a member of our team, you’ll guide our clients. You’ll work with innovative tax technology to solve unique problems. You’ll make key business decisions. And you’ll collaborate across business areas and geographies to grow ours and our clients’ businesses.
What will you be doing?
- Collaborating with colleagues and senior leaders, as well as our other EY teams on a global scale.
- Building important relationships with clients through meetings and day-to-day work.
- Coaching and management of onshore junior and offshore resource to facilitate the delivery of your work.
- Working flexibly in our flexible environment as you explore your options and realise your ambitions.
- Putting your curiosity, agility and resilience to work on real client projects.
How is it structured?
Developing your understanding of local and international tax laws is at the heart of this programme. Learn on the job, through structured training and from professionals who will push you to reinvent the working world as we know it. And work towards your ICAEW (England) or ICAS (Scotland) qualification throughout this Level 7 Apprenticeship.
Year one
Your first year will be spent understanding how businesses operate and the tax issues associated with them. You'll build your technical knowledge by assisting with tax work, working alongside offshore support, and learning how we can digitise tax for the future.
Years two and three
You'll continue studying for your professional qualification, gaining invaluable experience through technical tax work and working directly with leaders. You will be assisting and delegating work to new joiners and taking on more responsibility.
Year four
You'll become proficient in problem solving, decision making and client management. And you’ll qualify as a chartered accountant.
Alongside our programme offering, we give you all the training and exposure to real-world work you could want. We also offer company-wide and programme-specific rewards that make all the hard work worthwhile. These include wellbeing initiatives, a free tech MBA, healthcare support, a pension scheme and more.
Technology in Tax
Enjoy using EY technology tools and networks to solve complex business and tax problems. By combining the power of EY’s tax experience with innovative technology, you can help us transform the tax function of the future.
This is where your adventure begins and where you have every opportunity to build an exceptional experience. Embrace the challenge as you help us build a better working world for everyone.
Are you eligible to apply?
We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have completed three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent).
We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for people who will succeed at EY today and tomorrow. That's why, through our recruitment process, your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We’re also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background.
