The Role
Reporting to the Product Lead - Pipe, the Extrusion Assistant will work at our Doncaster site on a 5-day working shift pattern, working 12 hour shifts days and nights with incorporated rest days. As the Extrusion Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Extrusion Technical Operator in tool change and in the production of pipe in a safe and efficient manner, whilst maintaining the optimum level of quality.
Responsibilities
To ensure that you are working safely, and that all PPE is being worn
To ensure that all raw materials and equipment are stored and used in line with existing internal procedures
To move material as necessary and follow booking out procedures
To work closely with the Extrusion Setter to ensure that the pipe is manufactured to the correct quality and quantity within schedule adherence
To work with the Extrusion Setter to effectively plan all work activities for the shift and on coming shifts
To work with the Extrusion Setter to carry out tool changes and other work activities within knowledge and capability
Ensure that all extrusion lines are set up and shut down correctly
To carry out routine and non-routine quality checks as appropriate to ensure that all pipes are within quality standards. Ensure that any non-conforming product is quarantined or scrapped as appropriate and ensure that records are maintained
Adopt and utilise Continuous Improvement methods and techniques to ensure that the fittings and workplace is made safer and more efficient
To work with Toolmakers to ensure that efficiency of the process is maximised and root causes established for long term issues
To assist & support with training for any existing or new procedures throughout the extrusion area
Profile
We are looking for someone with knowledge of production processes within the Manufacturing sector and experience of injection moulding / extrusion production. A good knowledge of Health and Safety is required, with the ability to demonstrate a pro-active approach to all aspects of Health and Safety within the workplace. A good knowledge of process controls, quality standards & condition setting as well as an understanding of all tooling and equipment along with Polymer characteristics is required.
Working positively within a close-knit team and on own initiative, the position holder will need to have good communication skills with the ability motivate and lead teams in an ever-changing environment. Successful candidates must be organised, self-motivated and be able to demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic, can-do attitude. A flexible attitude to working hours and shifts will also be required.
